Odd error with feed 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am getting the following error from my feed:

XML Parsing Error: junk after document element
Location: http://www.arhospitality.org/index.php?option=com_ninjarsssyndicator&feed_id=1&format=raw
Line Number 2, Column 1:<b>Warning</b>: fopen(/home/arhospit/public_html/components/com_ninjarsssyndicator/feed/feed1.xml) [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in <b>/home/arhospit/public_html/components/com_ninjarsssyndicator/views/ninjarsssyndicator/tmpl/feedcreator.class.php</b> on line <b>671</b><br />
^

Do you have any ideas as to what might be causing this error? I already tested changing my permissions to 777 and it didn't make a difference. I searched around for a few minutes but couldn't find any problems similar to my own, IMO. Please, let me know if you need further information from me.

try setting the fed cache to 0 (you may need to delete the cache file if it exists)

There is definitely some sort of permission issue with your server, but if it does it even with 777 settings then something is very odd.

Looks like the php fopen function or something it depends on is disabled. That would be a server setting configured by your host. Hopefully Daniel's solution works.

p.s. don't leave your folder with 777 permissions it becomes a security risk

I was having the same error. Changed my cache thing to 0
Now when I click the feed, firefox pulls up the file saving dialog box for index.php ?? I don't understand why it's so difficult to get this component and module to work properly. I followed the tutorials.

Hi dax,
You mentioned in another thread that you were having the same error as someone there.. despite that error being completely different from this one.

Instead of posting on other threads, please create your own and paste in *your* error so we can help you better.

I can understand your frustration, but the reason why this is so difficult is that RSS readers are quite strict and will break if given malformed feeds.

It falls on Ninja RSS to provide the feeds, but Ninja RSS doesn't write the feeds, Joomla administrators do, both with the content they provide and the content and code injected by the various plugins they've installed.

No matter how properly you follow the instructions, your feed will break if you have plugins on your site that inject stuff that Ninja RSS can't handle.

We have no control over this, hence all the issues.

Help us help you by posting a link to your site so we can try and find out which plugin is causing the problems.

Cheers
Mark

I don't believe it can be anything being injected as I have not yet added any articles to the category for the feed. It's completely empty. Here's a link:
http://tinyurl.com/yzhmfo2

Oddly enough, something else is happening, those three modules below the horizontal nav menu are only supposed to show on the home page of the site and now they're showing on this page for some reason, even though the module settings are correct. Very odd.....

Hi Dax,

If you open the file that downloads when you click on the feed link, you'll see that there is indeed a whole lot of code before the actual feed begins. Something is injecting this, and that something is not Ninja RSS.

I suggest turning off all plugins on your site one by one, opening the feed after every disable, until you see the code in the feed disappear.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers
Mark
