Clicky - The Story

What is the story behind NinjaClicky? How come Clicky and not NinjaGoogleAnalytics, etc.? Is there some kind of implied endorsement here, like "this is just so much cooler than the other click tracking services out there that we HAD to write this little module to make it even easier"? I'd love to see more of the story on the NinjaClicky page.

Specifically, I was interested in a rather costly service that attempts to "close the loop" between PPC campaigns, site visits, user registrations, and outbound email marketing, making it trackable to the prospect/visitor, then hopefully, to a sale.

It seems like clicky does a lot of this, but if the user ultimately registers, and we know his IP at that point, does Clicky go back and update the history database *assuming* that the visits, etc. were from this user? If so, does it verify at all using a cookie or something?

Ideally, it would be cool to know...This prospect got the campaign email, which he opened, a minute later, he showed up at the web site, and spent 2 minutes on Page X, and 3 more minutes on Page Y, registered, activated, came back and made a forum post...i.e. "this is an interested prospect".

Thanks,
K

Looking at the comparison chart on the Clicky site, it looks like one of the major features is that they claim to be Joomla username aware.
I see in Clicky where I can manually assign the Joomla username to a given IP. I would have thought that would be one of the functions of a Joomla module, to somehow use the Clicky API to make username to IP assignments, right?

The implementation is really easy, and I can see my own session tracks, instantly, whereas they say that Google has a 24 hour delay in reporting.

So those two features alone seem sufficient to make Clicky better than Google Analytics, but it would be nice of the username were available in Clicky automatically.

Best,
Ken

Hi Ken,

Sorry these slipped through the cracks somehow.

The reason for this module and not a google analytics one was simply that a clicky module didn't exist, but there are dozens of google modules already.

I agree that those advanced features would be very nice, and to be honest I was unaware of them. Can you please use the feedback link to the left hand side of the page and put your request in there and if there is enough call for it then we will look at expanding the clicky module into a fully fledged component.

Also keep in mind that if you absolutely have to have a certain feature or extension then we are open to having people sponsor an extension in which case it gets pushed to the top of the list and is done asap instead of "when we get to it", and you get an advertisement and link inside the extension and also on the extension listing page of our site.

Thanks. It looks like I got the first idea into the UserVoice. Hopefully, that means it will get lots of votes :)

"Make NinjaClicky Joomla Username aware I see in Clicky where I can manually assign the Joomla name..."

Thanks,
Daniel!

Hey All,

Since this post, I have personally witnessed my click tracks in the getClicky site with my name on them, when I was logged in. Very cool.

Best,
Ken

That's strange... certainly wasn't us! :P

Ninja Clicky (the module) doesn't support this, but the Ninja Site Styler component does. Are you using the latter?

Cheers
M

Sorry, I am sure it's confusing. I don't even recall which site it was on, and I don't think that I was actually using the NJ code, I was just updating the thread, since I had once reported that it *wasn't* working.
