Public posting but not editing

First, compliments on the great forum! I love it so far - have an install on a J1.5.17 site. But have one issue:
I would like to allow unregistered visitors to post but not edit posts.
Using permissions I have been able to gibe public abilitiy to create a topice, but then anyone can edit the topic. Can this be changed?

I would prefer that any post was not editable after posting, but public/guest posts should not be editable at all.

Thanks

John

[edit] - also, for public posting, there is nowhere to put a screen name, and the time of posting becomes the name. Seems like a fix is needed for that. (Although I realize I'm doing this on an old Joomla! site - maybe its not the same in more recent versions)

Hi John,

Thanks for your kind words.

Unfortunately, what you want to achieve is not quit possible.

Intentionally, Ninjaboard was not designed to let unregistered people create topics and posts, although it looks like you can manage this in the Usergroup settings and Mapping.
And although it's possible to let unregistered people create topics/posts, this is something that needs to be reworked.
Our thoughts behind this is that we will prevent spammers (and even hackers) can have a free hand in messing up your forum seriously.
In the future we will consider to add an anti-spam feature but I think the ability for guests to create posts and having the proper permissions will not be added/extended.
Safety above all.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
John
