Nijaboard beta installs but fails

I successfully installed Nijaboard beta, then when I click on the admin button it get a white screen. All the admin menus are in the drop down, but all cause white screen.

Database Version 5.1.61-community-log
Database Collation utf8_general_ci
PHP Version 5.2.17
Web Server Apache

Hi ChrisG57,

Can you check if your server has Suhosin loaded?
To do so, from the menubar go to Site > Systen information > click PHP Information (last tab).
Do a page search (ctrl + f) for Suhosin.

If the Suhosin patch is found please apply the following fix:

Hi,

Do you get any errors showing up, or just completely white screens?

Note that Ninjaboard Beta is still in development fase.
The issue you experience could be related to PHP errors as white screens usually mean there's a PHP error involved.

Can you check your PHP error log or Joomla error log if there's anything related to this issue?

Installation of Ninjaboard v2.0 Beta rev2529 fails for me too with following error message.

Parse error: parse error in joomla\tmp\install_4fbffd1582132\install\install.php on line 126

I tried installing in both Joomla 2.5.4 and Joomla 1.5.26 with same result.

Server Info:
Database Version: 5.1.36
PHP Version: 5.3.0
Web Server: Apache/2.2.11

Hi aravot,

I have no solid clue why this is happening.

This could be a permission issue.
Make sure you have correct write permissions to your folders.

You can check this in your administrator site by browsing from the menubar to "Site > System Information > choose the tab Directory Permissions".

See if your folders are marked green and "writable".

If this is not the case, try to contact your host in order how you can change this.

In case the folders are marked green and writable, try to change your default language to English and try to install Ninjaboard Beta again.

I checked for the permission, all files and folders are green "writable".

I have only one language installed English.

Ninjaboard installs fine for me, but I'm getting a 500 error when I try and get to any menu item.

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://localhost:8888/subway/administrator/index.php?option=com_ninjaboard&view=dashboard. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

@ aravot,

Try to delete the items in the tmp folder.
Also, try to clear Joomla's cache and expired cache.
Afterwards, try to install Ninjaboard again.

If this doesn't help then I'm out of ideas. I could not reproduce your issue.
May be you can provide me super user/admin access but Ninjaboard Beta is still in testing and development phase. I'm not sure if this will help. Your issue could be a server side thing. Do you have problems with the installation of other extensions?

Tried all your suggestions, could not install ninjaboard maybe you are using a different version.

The version of ninjaboard I have is ninjaboard v2.0Beta rev2529 I download it from http://ninjaforge.com/extensions/ninjaboard-beta

I tried installing ninjaboard on fresh new install of Joomla 1.5.26 got white page with following message.

Parse error: parse error in administrator\components\com_ninjaboard\install\install.php on line 126

But when I check the component menu there is Ninjaboard but when I click on any of the related menus I get following message.

Ok, Tried installing on a live server running PHP 5.2.17 and now getting this error when trying to access any admin menu items!

Hi Aravot,

You are right about the PM system and it is already available and working when you install the latest stable version of Ninjaboard. This PM system is available from the included module "Ninjaboard Quickpanel".

Unfortunately the Ninjaforge site is running an older version of Ninjaboard which doesn't include the PM system.

Got same error when i run it on localhost. Probably because it can not find koowa.2.5.php

When can we please have a fix for this, it is evident from many user posts that there is an error during installation for few after installation.

at first run ninja.php try to turn on component

You can't remove that code above.
It's checking if the plugins are correctly ordered. This check need to be done.

I tried to find the culprit but this more difficult then I thought.
There are several issues going on here and I can't figure out at the moment what could be causing this.

At this point I wilI create an issue-ticket at GitHub for this thread so we can keep track.
Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

FYI I was able to fix the issue from Chris (the one who started the thread).
As far as I can recall it was a matter of reordering and enabling the 2 system plugins for Ninjaboard.

In the meantime please refer to the Ninjaboard FAQ and see if there's anything listed that could be related.

I really like ninja board extension. For me it's one of the most beautiful forum for joomla. Yes, joomla 1.5 is a cool thing but it's too old and even yootheme stop support it, that's why i'm waiting for ninjaboard for joomla 2.5. May i ask you a question ? When will be a working beta version ? I would like to help you with improve and make better this extension. I am not very good in php but css and html5 i know.

Thanks for your positive feedback.

I've reported the bug at GitHub a week ago.
We have to wait for a possible fix because I wasn't able to find the exact cause although I was able to fix Chris' issue.

Here's where the dev team has to come in as I'm not a coder/developer.

We are currently working on a Beta version, you can read more info HERE.

We do appreciate contributors and encourage this in the most way.
So if you want to contribute to the development of Ninjaboard you can do this via GitHub.
Create an account and start forking by creating your own Ninjaboard fork.
Or instead you can also add issues (tickets) to the list to suggest improvements and such.

Thanks for taking the time to try Ninjaboard while it is in beta.

Some of you are reporting error messages that include this:

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required .... . /administrator/components/com_ninja/setup/koowa.2.5.php

Could anyone who has this error please do me a favour and try the following:

Go to /administrator/components/com_ninja/setup/

In there, you will find a file called 'koowa.1.6.php'. Rename this file to koowa.2.5.php and let me know if that fixes the issue.

@aravot Strange, I never touched that file, and it was working for you previously.

Are you installing on J1.5 or J2.5? A clean Joomla or one with Ninjaboard already on it? What versions of PHP/MySQL?

2529b was a quick patch by me. Richie is cleaning it up and will release a proper version next week.

I doubt it takes longer than it did before, but it seems longer because there is no feedback during the wait (Before there was feedback like 'checking for additional packages to install', etc).
