Hello,

i used Ninja Content to control users it was not working well on the beginning
seems that when i try to save new article or save new modifications redirect to ninija content page and not saving but when i set Search Engine Friendly URLs to NO on Global Configuration start to work

but we need to rework Search Engine Friendly URLs

Hi mkader,

Strange...

As far as I know Ninja Content works correct with Joomla's default SEF settings.

Try to follow these steps:

- set Search Engine Friendly URL's to Yes
- rename htaccess.txt located in your Joomla root to .htaccess (dot htaccess)
- set Use Apache Mod Rewrite to Yes
- leave Add URL Suffix to No

I hope this helps.
Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
John

Hi mkader,

Thanks for your assistance by providing me access, very helpful.

I think this could be a javascript conflict.
Try to disable the system plugin "System - Mootools Upgrade" in the Plugin Manager.

This is a known issue that Ninja Content doesn't work well with this plugin enabled.

I hope this helps.
Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
John

Hi mkader,

Do I have access to the Backend with the account you've created for me?
If so, is it ok with you if I take a look?

Let me know and I will try to see what else could be the problem.

Thanks.

Kind regards,
John

Hi mkader,

I tried to login at the backend but the account you have created for me isn't allowed to.
Please can you convert this account to a super admin account or send me a new one.

I would like to have access to the backend in order to find out what could be the issue.

Thanks.

Kind regards,
John

Hello John,

Any News?

Link to this post 14 Mar 12

Hi mkader,

Thanks for your assistance by providing me super admin access to your site.

After spending a few hours at the backend of your site, I finally have some good news for you.
I was able to find out what the problem is.
I had a pretty hard time trying to find the problem because I didn't expect it was that simple.
I also couldn't replicate the issue you were experiencing.

Anyway...
It wasn't a javascript conflict and it wasn't SEF...well partly it was SEF.

The User Menu menu items you've created for Ninja Content are not correct.
All the menu items for Ninja Content are created as an URL type menu item.
I've no idea why you did this because Ninja Content has its own particular menu items.

After creating a specific menu item for Ninja Content, everything started to work as expected *and* with SEF enabled.

What you have to do is to assign all the desired menu items in the User Menu to a specific menu item for Ninja Content.
To do so, go to the Menu Manager > User Menu > click desired Ninja Content menu item > choose Change Type > choose Ninja Content from the menu item tree > choose the desired menu item for Ninja Content.

For example, see the Submit Test menu item, that's the one I've created which works correct.
If you create the menu items for Ninja Content as described then everything should work fine.

The reason why the menu items that were created from an URL type didn't work is because of the URL that was entered/specified manually.
As soon SEF was enabled, Ninja Content was not able to save the created article to the correct path.
Because the manually entered URL for the menu item didn't match with the SEF'ed URL for Ninja Content.

I hope you understand what the problem was.
If you have further questions, please do ask.

Kind regards,
John

Hello John,

Many Thanks for you help

everything are working OK now but let me explain why we use manual menu links
when try to configure ninja content we got this message error every time we need to add menu item from ninja content menu list (500 - an error has occurred) and we found article explain this error that is related it to our php version are php 5.3.10 not 5.2.0 as you list on system requirements

but this Error not found now we don't know why
are you did any move to fix this error?

last question
what is the difference between (Ninja Content Submit) and (Submit an Article) in your demo?

many thanks again i really appreciate your help

Link to this post 14 Mar 12

Hi mkader,

ah...ok, I understand why you created the URL type menu item.
It's indeed a possible workaround when experiencing an error 500 page in use with PHP 5.3.0.
As long as you keep the manually entered URL exactly the same as the SEF'ed URL then it should work, be it in an alternate way.
But in your case it wasn't and that's why it probably didn't work with SEF enabled.

However, I didn't do anything to fix it, I was able to create the specific menu items from Ninja Content without issues.
Some time ago I did experiencing an issue like this in use with PHP 5.3.6.
Back then I got an error 500 page when creating a menu item.
May be the current version of 5.3.10 has a fix for this, honestly I'm not aware of that at this time.

last question
what is the difference between (Ninja Content Submit) and (Submit an Article) in your demo?

Well, there's not much difference. Basically the same function.
The Submit an Article function is from Joomla itself and the Ninja Content Submit is from Ninja Content, obviously.
Ninja Content's function is practically based on that.

I'm glad to hear it's working for you now.

You are welcome anytime.
If you have a spare moment we really appreciate an honest review at JED.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
John

When I try to go into Ninja Content from either the back end (administration side) or the front end (user side), I get an error that it is "down for maintenance or configured incorrectly".

Hi mkader,

That's strange....

Can you turn off "Add Suffix To URLs" under SEO Settings in the Global Configurations.
See if this helps.

Otherwise you may send me the login details again for that account you've created for me (if it's still alive, otherwise you might create a new one).
May be I can try to find out what's going on now.

Thanks.

Kind regards,
John

Hi mkader,

Thanks for your trust by providing me access to your site, again.

I discovered that your server is running IonCube Loader.
Although your version shouldn't give any problems, there are known issues with IonCube.
I'm not sure, the issue about we know and care about is already fixed in IonCube version 4.1 and yours is 4.0.10...so, it could be a problem).

The best thing what you can do is to contact your host and ask them what to do.
You even can follow these instructions over here (proceed at the bottom > Upgrading ionCube loaders on shared hosts):

http://nooku.assembla.com/wiki/show/nooku-framework/Known_Issues

I've already uploaded the necessary files and modified the needed php.ini's.

See folder /ioncube and these files /php.ini (Joomla root) and /administrator/php.ini

- unpack the attached zip
- upload all the files to /ioncube (except ioncube_loader_lin_5.3.so and loader-wizard.php)

Just start the IonCube Wizard, as it needs information that you only can provide:

http://www.sars.org/ioncube/loader-wizard.php

Just follow the steps and hopefully it will help to fix your issue.
At this time I've no solid clue what's going on.

Because of the blank pages I also checked if your server is running Suhosin.
This isn't the case.
I can confirm because I've used the Suhosin method by modifying the custom php.ini's.

Also, blank pages usually means that there are php errors involved.
It's not clear to me where to look for because when I enabled System Debug it did show me nothing.
So, honestly I'm a little lost here.

Let us know how it goes after you have followed the steps provided.
May be there will be an answer.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
John

about your solution if you remember the ninja content component was working well by 14-3-2012

Hi mkader,

I will take a look again.
I will let you know if I find something new.

Hi mkader,

After quite some time of investigating again, I couldn't find the problem.
So I decided to reinstall Ninja Content and see what happens.
Suddenly it started to work again.
I've no solid clue why it stopped working before, I suspect there was something wrong with the database tables of Ninja Content. That's the most logical thing for me to explain because of the error you described.

I've tested Ninja Content (front- and backend as well), created new content and saved it.
Seems to me that all is good now.

I've deleted the ioncube folder and both custom php.ini's
Also changed your actual htaccess.txt and .htaccess to it's default values, as I noticed there were a few differences.
I can't recall that I changed those values from the defaults when I solved the issue at March 14th.
Is there a chance you've modified that?

Anyway, I'm glad Ninja Content works again after all.

Just do some tests and check for yourself if everything is alright.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks for trust again!

Kind regards,
John

Hi mkader,

Great to hear.
I think the IonCube issue was not the real issue but more a try to eliminate suspicious matters.
Your host did a good job, It's always good to upgrade.

You're welcome. Have a nice weekend.

Kind regards,
John

Hello John,

me 2 think that IonCube was not the issue or any server related problem
i think it was Component Error led to ninja content corruption

anyway many thanks for your help
can you provide us source copy of ninja content zip file to could reinstall it in any future need ?

our ninja content was part of Joomla 1.5 package

Link to this post 05 Apr 12

Hi mkader,

Can you tell me where you did get the joomla 1.5 package from?

Ninja Content is a commercial extension so we need to track down if there's a valid subscription for the included package of Ninja Content.

Let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks.

Kind regards,
John
