Hello people,

Unfortunately I'm being the one having trouble installing this nice piece of work on my Joomla! Website. Most of the time i'll come up with an solution myself, however this time there isn't a solution left I can try nor that I know of.. So it's time asking the professionals around this forum...

For some reason, while trying to install the forum there appears to be a error within my Joomla! Directory which is the following error:

JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
JFolder::folder: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

I understand what the error means, but I need solutions here. Every possible solution that I know of are somewhat called 'failed'.

I hope someone of you know what to do now,

Kindly regards,
Synx.

[EDIT: I'm using Joomla! V 1.5.22 & the latest Ninjaboard version by the way]

I suppose that means a '' I don't know either '' as my only current answer? =(

Sorry Synx, no help here.

It's a server issue that is unique to your environment.

I had this this same problem recently. In my case I had lazy backup plugin from akeeba installed, I had so many backups that it used up all of my memory and I recieved the same error. Probably not your problem but that's what it was in my case.

Hi Synx1,

Your problem could be a permission issue.

Check if you've the FTP Settings (so called FTP Layer) enabled.
You can do this in the 'Global Configuration' under 'Server'.
Make sure you've a top level FTP account in use with the FTP layer.

Try to reinstall the Ninjaboard package again and see if the installation completes well.

If this isn't working then you've to set higher permissions (chmod) for folders and files manually.
This can be done by using Ninja Xplorer or any other FTP client like Filezilla.
Make sure you've set your Joomla folders to chmod 755 and files to 644.

In some rare cases it is necessary to reset the ownership of your folder and files.
This can only be done by using your server's file manager provided by your host.
You must have root access to do this action.

I've also noticed that your server is protected with the Suhosin patch.
- If - the installation went well then Ninjaboard won't run correctly.
You then will get a message after the installation completes that says you've the Suhosin patch installed...
(Ninjaboard is build on the Nooku Framework which needs to be added to the whitelist)

To deal with the Suhosin patch, please follow the steps written over here (if you haven't get the message after completion of the installation):

http://www.assembla.com/wiki/show/nooku-framework/Known_Issues

Let us know how it goes.
If you need further help, please do ask

Kind regards,
John.

How can I delete the default articles in Ninjaboard? Can I customize the image of each topic? Also can I restrict the characters of a particular post?

Hi maillawale,

Apologies for the delay!

Thanks for your interests. I will try to answer your questions.

How can I delete the default articles in Ninjaboard?

You can login as an Admin or Super Admin at the frontend and delete the desired posts by using the moderation toolbar which is only visible by admins (by default).

Can I customize the image of each topic?

Yes you can. Upload your custom images for topics to: /images/com_ninjaboard/topic/

Also can I restrict the characters of a particular post?

No, unfortunately this is not directly possible.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
John

Hello,
I tried adding picture from the back end but the way the picture shows. Also the front view of posting is viewable enough to see. See also in the print screen. The box for edit post, administrator is not wide enough and I also want to avoid members from editing or replying a post, instead the should create a new post. How do I set these and ensure everything is in order. Please help

Hi maillawale,

For the first screenshot please refer to this FAQ:

http://ninjaforge.com/faq/ninjaboard/71-ive-a-free-siteground-template-and-ninjaboard-looks-out-of-proportions-what-can-i-do

For the second screenshot, if I understood you correctly, you may want to decrease the size of the custom image to 64px or 32px.

I hope this helps.
Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
John
