The Symptom
When you try to install Ninjaboard, it installs partially before seemingly "hanging" or "freezing".

Why This Happens
This can happen if you have an extension on your website that adds javascript to the Joomla Administrator panel that conflicts with the Ninjaboard install javascript.

The Solution
1.) Install Ninjaboard normally. When it hangs, navigate to another page in the admin panel.
2.) Unzip the Ninjaboard install zip locally. You should see a number of folders and files. One of the files is called "packages", and inside this you will find a component and at least one plugin. Install all of them as you would any Joomla extension.

Done! Ninjaboard should now work perfectly for you.

Hi Mark, could you provide more details on the manual install? I've never done one before. I did find a folder called 'Packages' with the component and plugin inside. Do I install these through the Joomla administrator view also, or do you mean install them in the folder directory on the server? If so, which folders should it be in? What about all the other folder/files that comes with the .zip file? Should those be placed somewhere also?

I keep getting these errors when I tried to install the .zip file through Joomla administrator:

JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
JFolder::folder: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
JFolder::files: Path does not point to a valid folder or the folder has been deleted.
Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package.

Thanks,
Sophy

Hi Sophy,

The separate folders and files in the package will install before hanging.
You don't have to worry about them.
When installation hangs, browse to another page and go back to the Joomla installer.
Then install the 2 zip files from the folder "Packages" one by one. Somehow these packages are are not coming through the install progress (in your situation).

If you're still having trouble may be it's advisable to give one of us a temporary super admin account so we can try to do it for you?

If you you're pleased by giving a temporary SA account you can send login details and a link to your administrator site either to me: john [at] cquence-multimedia [dot] nl or to support [at] ninjaforge [dot] com.

Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
John
