Hmm, here's a thought.

Joomla 1.5 stable can't be that far away now (even in the grand scheme of things) and I was wondering what people are going to do when it is released?

i.e. jump straight across, or stick with J!1.13?

I'm looking forward to 1.5, if only to get on with it and am going to use it on new projects pretty much straight away. I'm not looking forward to migrating my largest existing project across - I think I'll wait with that one (may even leave it at 1.13).

Cheers,

Steve

Personally I will be staying with 1.0.13 for my Joomla Sites for a while.

1.5 still doesn't have a lot of native extensions and it's a lot harder to build the site you want, right now anyway.

I also don't like the first version of anything. Always has lots of issues, no matter what the software. (even mine!)

I will also be spending more time working on Mambo sites. M 4.7 will also be out soon and it looks like it will be very nice. Especially for those looking for government, big business or non-profit group work.

Totally accessible front end, mostly accessible rear end, faster DB queries, better seo for the site from correct tags - H2 instead of contentheading etc.

I am looking forward to it myself.

not a fan of 1.5
liked it at first glance, but when i went digging found some really crappy decisions have been made.

i also dont like the fact that some of the devs dont even know what it does :P

also looking forward to the new mambo.

ill be sticking with 1.0.13 for now though

Mark is a big fan of Silverstripe which is a new CMS out of new zealand I think.

We are keeping our eye on that one too. If it takes off we might try to find a silverstripe developer to convert some of our stuff over to it.

that looks very good, from the frontend atleast.

i may grab that this week to take a look see

Silverstripe looks neat, in the early stages of development.

I'm hoping to get the chance to work with ExpressionEngine for a particular project - it's a commercial package (but not that expensive) and it's multi-site capability is what this project is looking for.

Any other packages that people consider worth a look?

There is a multisite Joomla extension out there. Also comercial.

I haven't been watching other CMS that much.

Mark should find this thread, he is always out and about and has loads of neat sites and new ideas.

Expression looks pretty good too.

Pity we cant put most of our extensions on it as it's not open source.
