I thought that when I first installed NinjaBoard before the last two updates, that people who clicked the register button on NB were redirected to JomSocial registration. But right now it goes to NB registration.
Am I missing something? How do I send people to register in JomSocial instead of NB?

I am not sure we have changed anything specifically to do with registration (are your sure it did it originally?)
i dont know if our development on ninjaboard has started on cross community support yet so i wonder if it worked in the first place
i am not on the ninjaboard team but i will certainly ask the team

It should be easy enough to change the Registration link to point to the JomSocial page, but the question then is whether the user will have access to NB after logging into JomSocial.
We need to get a copy of JomSocial off Azrul to test this.

At the current time, when people log in to JomSocial their user/pw logs them into NB so I don't see a problem with changing the link.
You'll have to forgive me because I've been coding so many projects the last couple months I might now not be remembering clearly about how it originally worked.
One of the reasons I chose to use NB on our (what is sure to be a large community site once it launches) was that NinjaForce was going to work closely with JomSocial to integrate the two profile systems. Now I know that is in the future but I decided to take the chance because I believe in your work and your communication has been excellent. So I look forward to the day when they work together.
So...
My reason for asking this was a support question I received today (we are in pre-pre-launch phase :-). Apparently (I think) this gentleman registered for the site with NB and the following happened. I can not reproduce it. You have any ideas what he may have done? If you need to play with it yourself, please email me here trishah(at)trishah(dot)com and I'll give you the link to the site.

Hi Trishah,
I would recommend turning off registration in NB, and just putting a module with a link to the registration page (e.g. your normal login module)
NB is currently undergoing a rebirth of sorts with the whole backend getting cleaned up and replaced. Functionality is almost identical though so don't worry, we just wanted the code to be cleaner, faster, more secure and less bug prone.
That should be finished in the next day or so. After which we will be starting on a revamp of the front end, which should take one to two weeks, three at the outside.
The very next thing we will do is the social integrations for Jom social and CB. So they will be in place in around 3 weeks.
If you have any preferences for features, now is the time to ask!
e.g. (the basics)
- Avatar integration
- Registration
- Login
- Profiles
Anything else you think it needs?

Just the usual suspects ;->
1. Fix the error with posts to private threads showing up in the current posts section.
2. More/Prettier smilies, or/and the ability to add our own smilies (one of my users requested this... but I like pretty things too, ;-)
3 Simplier css structure.
4. Deleted thread/posts go into a "holding tank" until admin decides to permanently delete.
5. Ability to embed videos in a post rather than just a link to them.
And I'll ask my "Site Magistrate" aka Head Moderator if there is anything he can think of.

I meant in relation to Social engine integrations :) All of these are already on our list.
Stian is down with the Swine Flu right now so we might be a few days late with the next NB release.

My preference would be to have the JomSocial profile be the profile for NB. And that the JomSocial profile would accept any enhancements that NB would want to add in the future. For instance, if NB wants to give users another section to customize, then it should be able to be edited through JomSocial.
Likewise, the login for NB should link to the JomSocial login if that is what the site has choose as default login. The same with registration.
The bottomline for me would be that there is only one profile on a site, and when a community script like JomSocial is present that should be the only place a member has to go to make changes.

The correct answer is - I would like there to be no need for Jom Social, because Ninjaboard expanded upon the profile it has now, which is as flexible as CB or JomScl, only it is currently lacking a plugin and tab system.

Don't get too excited though, and definitely don't hold your breath, as this will be a while away.
Once...
- NB is fully converted to use the Koowa framework
- And integrated with our own add on to the Koowa framework - Napi (Ninja Api)
- We have cleaned all the bugs out
- Released a Stable
- Integrated a plugin system
Then we can start looking at this. :s

yes koowa framework, let me also ask is nb will be able to use something like rokbox in the forum, for uploaded images. i would love if NB have an lightbox, or rokbox feel to it also, and with an great plugin system i also have to add that this will also enable other developers to expand on the framework great work, i hope this is released soon stable so i can put in my site.

However, I strongly suggest you wait about 2 weeks before you begin on this. By then NinjaBoard 1.0 should be released, and will be vastly different from the current version. You will have many headaches if you have to rebuild your jomsocial integration to work with NB 1.0

yes thank your for your quick response am only doing this now, to test, while ninjaboard grows, ill make other changes to code to reflect 1.0 if changes need to be made. besides building the pluging for ninjaboard and jomsocial shouldn't be that hard. am almost done with it. ill post in an little while when am done. so others can test it.

oka here it is its suppose to show post you made from NB in your jomsocial page, see attachment below any issues let me know ill fix just install it as how you would any jomsocial plugin or joomla plugin publish it and test it with your NB forum and see if the post comes up on your page you can also set the amount of post you want to show up. WOW that was fast. Great news indeed.
BTW since this is a jomsocial/joomla plugin, not an NB one... my comment earlier about it possibly breaking in NB 1.0 is probably invalid :)

ya it won't break it i went to create the jomsocial plugin instead of an NB one, since users are going to use the NB for post and such and want to see those post in there profile, once am done fixing my query in db, ill work on an nb plugin for jomsocial when 1.0 is out. infact ill work on it now just to have an skeleton

I don't have jomsocial but Stian will test this on his dev site when you sort out all the issues.

I lead the design team and will be creating templates for NinjaBoard after it is stable, but I have almost zero knowledge about PHP.
Stian is the developer working on the coding of NinjaBoard right now. I have forwarded your message to him and hopefully he will be able to help when he comes online later.

The second query was a bit messed up at the end part, might be our PM system or FireBoard causing it,
but the errors I found was just a couple.
You where trying to get data from the table jos_ninjaboard_post, which should be jos_ninjaboard_posts.
and had a WHERE clause like this: AND a.hold = 0, and that column don't exist either.
Anyways, I got the second query working using this:

As a user (not a developer) of NB I want to also thank aurorathemes for his work on this plugin to get users NB posts to show up on their JomSocial profile. It's like MyBlog plugin for NB. I think members will really like this, especially those who would rather "forum" than "blog".
My only concern with it is, as an admin, I would like members to see my NB posts as long as my posts to our private moderators forum does not show on my profile. There is a bug in the current NB that allows these posts to be seen in the "Recent Posts" section.
Other than that, great work. I look forward to trying it out with my community once you get a solid version, and most likely after NB1.0 is out.

thank you so much, i fell asleep at the computer, i was so tired, and wanted to finish it, am glad this is an step now, ill add the query now. to the plugin and see how things are. also if anyone wants the code i can post it here. ill modify it once 1.0 stable is out, for more features, on the plugin, right now, i just want it to show the post made from users in the NB on there profile.
the private stuff ill look into that when i get the chance. for now we wait on 1.0 stable till things start work.

i will be making my first NB template soon, one dat match one of RT templates and others, ill post it here. when i finish getting this plugin working, the plugin is for NB members, as for templates designing the templates i don't think will be that hard, i like the fact that the NB system makes it easy to design templates, if your dev team need the upcoming beta release of jomsocial i can send its jomsocial 1.5.255, spoke with one of there developers said there going to release an new version late september early october, so users might see j2.0 by that time i believe. i cant wait for NB stable. love to see other exciting features.

sorry what i meant was, once the stable of NB is released, ill modify the code to work with profiles that are set to private, either to show post or not to show post. the plugin is nearly complete i have to do some more testing. once its finish, ill work on the code to test against the current NB build with private forums/profiles and such.
