Hi All

Being using Ninjaboard for 6 months or more now and it's been great for us.

One small problems: if someone hasn't uploaded an avatar there doesn't seem to be a default to fill the space. I've noticed the same on this site.

That doesn't look strange here on the forum, but it does when shown in the Ninjaboard module. Instead of an avatar, you just see a blank space.

Any way to have a default avatar?

Hi ekal,

Please read the following FAQs and check if everything is set:

Avatar FAQ

and

SEF settings for Avatars

I hope this helps.

Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
John

Thanks John

Sorry, maybe didn't explain well enough:

- Avatars are working great for us.

- The only problem is the default avatar for people who haven't uploaded one.

Hi ekal,

No, you did explain it well.
It was just me who was carried away too much.

The first FAQ has nothing to do with your situation. Sorry about that.
The second one could be helpful.

Another thing what you can try is:

- clean the cache and purge it.
- go to your Ninjaboard settings, and set Integrate with Gravatar to No.

I think this is the culprit here ;)

I hope this helps.
Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
John

That was it, thanks John.

Turning off Gravatar solved the problem. Is a bug with the Gravatar integration or should we be looking elsewhere for the fix?

Hi ekal,

Ok, good to hear.

It's not a real bug, it's just that the default Avatar is turned off as soon Gravatar is integrated/activated.
Users can decide to upload their own Avatar or use their Gravatar.
In order to make use of their Gravatar the default Avatar for a user is deleted automaticaly.
If an user has no custom Avatar upoaded and isn't aware of the Gravatar integration (which is a global function) then no Avatar (blank) is displayed. In order to make the Gravatar display, if enabled, an user has to delete his custom uploaded Avatar first (via profile). This figures why there's no default Avatar displayed.

I hope this explains it a bit.

We will include a better awareness for the registered user about the Gravatar integration in future releases of Ninjaboard.

Thanks for reporting.

Kind regards,
John
