Hi guys.
I've just upgraded to 1.1.5 stable but now I experience a major problem.
When I click on my forum link on my website I get internal server error 500. This is with SEF URL set to ON.
I did'n have this problem with the previous version of Ninjaboard. When I turn SEF URL off the link to my forum works. Can anyone help me with this problem as I have already tried everything in my powers to resolve it?! I really want to use SEF URLS.

Thank you in advance guys.

Is your config set to use apache mod_rewrite also?

Can you please post your server specs (php/mysql versions) and your Joomla version too?

Thanks. :)

Hey, your Joomla version looks VERY old (March 2009).. can you could update that to the latest (1.5.23) before we go further?

Thanks. :)

How to update it? (sorry for the stupid question)
And if I update it won't I loose everything?
My provider control panel (Fantastico deluxe) says only manual upgrade to (1.5.23)

Hi bimbongr,

Just to add to what CaptainHook has pointed out, I suggest you first take a backup of your website using this:
https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/official/akeeba-backup/akeeba-backup-3-3-3.html
Then use this update manager to update your Joomla website with a few clicks:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-enhancements/installers/9332

Ninjaboard aside, the version of Joomla you are using is very insecure and has multiple vulnerabilities, so it is imperative you update Joomla ASAP.

Have a good weekend.

Mark

Ok guys I updated to the latest Joomla version and the problem is still the same my forum link works only if in Global Configuration, SEF URL is OFF. Any other suggestions? I'm getting kinda desperate :(

Glad to hear the update went fine.

If you want, you can send me a super admin password and a link to your website; I'd be happy to log in and take a look for you. Use our contact form to send the details.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi bimbongr,

Thanks for trusting me with access to your website. I noticed the server was running and old version of ionCube, and while this is normally fine with PHP 5.2, I updated to the latest version anyway. This made no difference.

I looked through the error_log, but there were no related errors in it. I turned on Joomla Debug mode, but that provided no more info.

Because there were no error reports, I was not able to find out the cause of the problem. This is made worse by the fact that some pages work and others don't... it isn't consistent.

I have passed on the account details to Stian, Ninjaboard lead developer, and he should be here on Monday to take a look hopefully. Please keep the admin account active until then.

Kind regards,
Mark

Any new info on this problem guys?

Hi bimbongr,

I discussed this with Stian, and he took a look as well, but could not really do much as there is no error report to see. With Joomla debug mode enabled, Joomla websites show a very descriptive error pointing out the exact location of the error. For some reason, your server is blocking this and showing instead the default server error message.

Without a Joomla error message, there is nothing we can do.

There is possibly another way to get to the bottom of this, but I wanted to ask your permission first. What I can do is take a backup of your website (Using Akeeba Backup) and install it on my localhost, where I should be able to see a proper error message.

Is that ok with you? I don't want to make a copy of your data without your permission.

Kind regards,
Mark
