Does Joomla work on subdomains?

Hi all,

Yes, me again... :)

I'm currently talking to a charity about updating their websites (an Intranet that is Joomla!) and a website that isn't (but is going to become so).

I'm going to suggest sub-domains to them (or can anyone else suggest something different/better), so they could have something such as:

www.sitename.org.uk (main site)
intranet.sitename.org.uk (intranet)
docs.sitename.org.uk (document management)

That last one is probably not going to be a J! site, but something to manage their documents and as an aside, I wonder if anyone has any experience with http://www.opendocman.com/ or anyone Open Source solution to this?

Best wishes and many thanks,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Yes joomla works on subdomains, you will need to remember though that if you intend to have users in both sites and not have them have to sign up again ect, you will need to look at a multi site configuration.

there are a few out there, for the brave i would say check out nooku server

havent had any experience with doc software im afraid

Thanks Richie... I don't think there will be users in both sites though... maybe I should broach that with the client...!

Greg Here. I am a newbie here and i have also same question as David. Richie you told like its possible to have sub-domains but it will be highly appreciable if you can provide some learning videos for that. We will all be benefited by that.
