Hi,
I've recently installed the BCA RSS Syndicator into Joomla. the problem I have is simply that I can't create feeds. When I save a new feed, all I get is the message "Error Saving feed".

The webserver has all the necessary privileges. What is wrong?

Please help
Viktor

Hi Viktor,

Can you please email a super administrator username and password to daniel@this site please?

I will log into your site and check it out. This hasn't happened before to my knowledge so I am not sure what the issue is.

Sorry, I can not give you access to our site.

I think I'm just gonna uninstall it and try another component. This one looked so good though.

Sorry to hear that Viktor.

I wish you the best of luck.

hi,

I had the same problem of "Error Saving feed".

I looked at the database and as I suspected, the tables were not created.

When I ran the sql from the install file to create the db tables, finally I was able to save a feed.

hope this helps.

That certainly does help, amg99. Thank you for sharing.

Is there anything "different" about your installation of Joomla or your hosting environment? Have you had this happen with any other extension?

Thanks

hi,

No, just this extension. Nothing special with my setup.

I did install it locally on MAMP v1.7.2 and on a site on hostgator both on Joomla 1.5.14.

MAMP (on OSX Leopard 10.5.8)
Apache:2.0.59
MySQL:5.0.41
PHP:5.2.6

Hostgator
Apache:2.2.1
MySQL:5.1.30
PHP:5.2.9

I'm having the same issue with not being able to create feeds. I'm kind of new to joomla and databases. Can you give me some tips on how to create the tables?

"When I ran the sql from the install file to create the db tables, finally I was able to save a feed."

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

As was said, they're investigating and working on a fix now.

But if you want to try it out... Assuming that you have the same , exact problem as I had.

Before you begin, be sure to backup your database using phpmyadmin (if you have it on your host).

1. Install the component com_ninjarss_1.0.1c.zip if you haven't done so yet.
2. Now, Extract the contents of the component on a folder and open the file install.bca-rss-syndicator.php. Here you'll find all the sql queries needed.
3. Make sure that you change the table prefix "#__" to "jos_" (or whatever is used on your db.)
4. Run those queries on phpmyadmin.

That should do it.

If you haven't done something like this before, be sure to first look for a tutorial on mysql and phpmyadmin or just wait for a fix. It shouldn't take long.

Hi guys, sorry for the trouble, can you try the latest version 1.0.1e.

This should now be fixed. Was some corrupt characters in the XML file preventing the install script from running (which makes and modifies the tables)

Hey Daniel,

It did save now!

Thanks for your great job!

yes, I know j1.5 is dead but this is how I fixed in.

in phpmy admin I ran the following...

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `jos_ninjarsssyndicator`
(
`id` tinyint(4) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`msg` varchar(100) default NULL,
`defaultType` varchar(4) default NULL,
`count` varchar(4) default NULL,
`orderby` varchar(10) default NULL,
`numWords` tinyint(4) unsigned default NULL,
`cache` smallint(9) default NULL,
`imgUrl` varchar(100) default NULL,
`renderAuthorFormat` varchar(10) default 'NAME',
`renderHTML` tinyint(1) default '1',
`FPItemsOnly` tinyint(1) default '0',
`description` text default NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
)

and then

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `jos_ninjarsssyndicator_feeds`
(
`id` tinyint(4) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`feed_name` varchar(150) default NULL,
`feed_description` text default NULL, `feed_type` varchar(10) default NULL,
`feed_cache` smallint(9) default NULL,
`feed_imgUrl` varchar(100) default NULL,
`feed_button` varchar(100) default NULL,
`feed_renderAuthorFormat` varchar(10) default '0',
`feed_renderHTML` tinyint(1) default '0',
`feed_renderImages` INT(1) NOT NULL,
`msg_count` varchar(4) default NULL,
`msg_orderby` varchar(10) default NULL,
`msg_numWords` tinyint(4) unsigned default NULL,
`msg_FPItemsOnly` tinyint(1) default '1',
`msg_sectlist` varchar(50) default NULL,
`msg_excatlist` varchar(100) default NULL,
`msg_includeCats` tinyint(1) default NULL,
`msg_fulltext` tinyint(1) default NULL,
`msg_exitems` varchar(250) default NULL,
`msg_includetags` varchar(250) default NULL,
`msg_contentPlugins` tinyint(1) default NULL,
`published` tinyint(1) default NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
)

Thanks
