• Ninja Content 1.6 Beta Available For Testing

    27 April, 2012

Ninja Content 1.6 Beta #488 is now available for members on the beta channel.

No builds from the beta channel are recommended for production sites. Please don't install this on live websites, as it still needs lots of testing.

Don't install this unless you know what you are doing. It may break your website and your sanity.

Ninja Content 1.6 Beta is installable and works on both Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. However, extensive testing has not been done and it is very likely that there are numerous bugs hiding just beneath the surface. Also note that NinjaContent 1.6 beta will only work with the beta version of Ninjaboard available here

  • Ninjaboard 1.2 nightly builds available

    31 July, 2011

The first alpha build of 1.2 is now available on our beta channel!

No builds from the beta channel is recommended for production sites. Please don't install this on live sites, it's very unstable and we don't expect it to be usable until beta status.

We're currently refactoring our codebase to not only use Nooku Framework Alpha 3 (Ninjaboard 1.1 is on Alpha 2, and the differences between the two is like Joomla 1.5 vs 1.6), but also to work on Joomla 1.6, 1.7 and on Nooku Server.

Wait, this is a Nooku extension, shouldn't it work out of the box with all of these platforms especially Nooku Server?

Ninjaboard have been able to run on Nooku Server all along as long as the Nooku Server shipped with the same revision of Nooku Framework as Ninjaboard.
Nooku Server got a lot of new innovations in terms of what we can do in the administrator UI using CSS3 flex layouts and more, and we intend to take full advantage of those.

For Joomla 1.6 and onwards, we need to update our MooTools javascript to work on MooTools 1.3, and we need to upgrade our ACL code to work with the new data model in Joomla 1.6+.

This build of Ninjaboard 1.2 focused on making the installer and built in updater work seamlessly on these 3 new platforms. So you can install it, and use the dashboard "Check for Updates…" button for updating to the latest nightly build.

Other than that, the code in 1.2 is extremely "work in progress" right now, so very little of the overall functionality of Ninjaboard is working.

Since 1.2 is expected to be very unstable during the alpha stages we'd like to ask everyone to wait with testing for bugs until we reach beta.

  • Unofficial Ninjaboard guide released

    26 April, 2011

Ninjaboard is a very young extension. It's a forum system built from scratch that only turned stable at the beginning of this year.

Ever since we started coding it we've given the feedback we've got from the community the attention it deserves.

And we are constantly working hard to make Ninjaboard work as intuitively as possible.
But in the midst of all this work there is one thing we haven't been able to do yet, and that is proper documentation and "getting started"-like tutorials.

However thanks to Steven Zeegers there's now an guide that will help you get up and running in mere minutes! Get it here.

Great work Steven, and thank you for sharing!

  • How to Override NinjaBoard HTML, JS, CSS, and Images

    30 August, 2010

This article gives a brief introduction on layout overrides, and explains the additional assets overrides support found in Ninjaboard.

All Joomla! 1.5 native components and modules supports something called template layout overrides.

Template layout overrides allow you to copy the files that generate the HTML in a component, into your template. The component will then use the files found in your template instead of its own.

We started doing some looking but as it was "only one" we figured that it was most likely something on their end.

Then the second one came in. And another.

Usually I do a little bit of training in the months before the race and as a result I usually finish in the top 20% of runners. This year though, I was really busy with various things and did basically no training, resulting in my worst ever time and putting me just inside the 70% mark.

While running the race this year, I noticed something very important...

  • Is Your Customer Service Costing You Customers?

    12 November, 2009

    Warranty Card

My wife and I were recently looking for baby beds on the Internet and we found two that we really liked, they looked good and the prices were very good.

Being Japanese, my wife is a little more into the group consensus than I am, and so she was looking around for comments and reviews on the two beds.

We found the usual stuff, and both of the beds were rated around the four and a half out of five mark. But one comment really stuck out to me. One person was saying that they had bought the bed and had it delivered to their house. When it arrived there, they opened it and found that it was broken. They then apparently immediately called the company asking what they should do to get a replacement or refund.

  • The Spammers Get to Twitter

    12 July, 2008

Maybe this is old news and I just didn't notice it before, but I got a new follower today, and went to check out their profile, as you do.

Anyway the profile name was macey121 with a nice pic of a pretty girl there.

But when I checked out her profile there was a single post advertising how she was going to make $40,000 this month and a link to the site.

She also has several thousand people she is following. How anyone could follow several thousand other people's twitters and stay sane I am not sure, so it's obviously a spam account, using the follow others as a way to get them to come and check out your twitter which has an big fat add in it.

I wonder if Twitter has some sort of policy about this? Because pretty soon it will be stock full of bots following everyone (including each other)
